July 13, 2019 marked the date the Vasquez family gathered together for the first reunion in over 15 years. My grandfather was the eldest of eight siblings with family spread out between San Diego and Los Angeles. Each of the siblings’ families was designated a color, and our family was awarded yellow. My grandparents settled in Chula Vista, California and lovingly called all their grandchildren "Sunshine.” I designed our family t-shirt graphic incorporating the Chula Vista city logo with the moniker Sunshine. At the end of the day, over 150 of the 270 family members turned out for the event, and I was finally able to meet all the relatives I had only known on Facebook.
